Once your pup has graduated from one of our dog training programs (Board and Train, puppy training, private dog training classes, etc.), we invite you both to join us for group training classes!
As far as dog training in Huntsville, AL goes, we are set apart by going above and beyond the standard. It’s not uncommon for a pet trainer to get you through basic obedience training and leave you to figure out the future on your own. We have solved that problem by offering what we call our Group Class.
No matter which of the programs you completed in the past, no matter what training methods you retained or didn’t, whether you have experience training dogs or not, group classes are a place where all owners and all dog breeds, ages, and sizes can come together to form a community of likeminded individuals seeking a brighter future. Dogs of a young age learn from adult dogs, herding breeds learn from less energetic breeds, and vice versa.
Whatever your end goal, whether it’s exploring new classes, learning new skills, going on hikes or field trips, or simply finding a new focus, we’re here for you!
Why This is Different Than Other Dog Training Programs
It’s not uncommon for trainers to get so concerned about distractions that they fail to prepare a dog for real-world situations. There is a time and a place for creating an environment where your dog training needs can be met without a lot of peripheral noise, but it can’t be the only training approach.
Group Classes are the perfect opportunity for dogs to practice with all kinds of distractions. There will be other dog trainers, other dogs, strange people, weird smells, lots of new noises, and more. All of these distractions are opportunities to reinforce good canine behavior with training tools that withstand any environment.
The other benefit is that we only offer these classes to clients of Sit Means Sit. This ensures the classes are safe and productive. You and your well-behaved dog will be given the opportunity to meet friends, build community, and work on advanced obedience, if that’s what you want. Maybe you only did private lessons and you’re seeking fellow dog owners.
Maybe those individual classes got you to a point where you’re starved for more information, so that you can always command your own dog. Whatever the case, these classes are always a positive experience. We’re confident that after just one class, you’ll look forward to the next session as if your instructor were a family member and dog obedience training were a long-awaited party.
It’s also common for owners to bring their dogs in for a refresher course to work on those basic manners and essential commands. If your dog’s behavior is slipping, it could be that you need the attention of a professional trainer and some positive reinforcement to curb that unruly behavior.
Beyond Basic Obedience Training
As stated above, group classes are only for Sit Means Sit clients. By limiting the classes in this way, we ensure your dog learn specific training that will equip them for long-term success. The group classes meet past expectations and help better behavior, but they aren’t designed to build a dog’s training from the ground up.
Our other courses are designed to take any dog, regardless of age, breed, size, temperament, behavioral history, or behavioral issues. We believe that every dog is deserving of a bright future full of freedom and clear communication. If your dog struggles with aggression or reactivity, we have expert trainers ready to give personalized attention to you and your dog in private sessions. If your dog is very social and does a lot of leash pulling, our Board and Train could be just the thing!
As are also associated with the American Kennel Club, which means we can test for and offer the AKC Canine Good Citizen award. This is an excellent stepping stone for pups who want to go on to be therapy dogs.
Whether this is your first dog or your tenth, you can trust us when we say that a fun experience is in store that will meet your specific training needs and create a stronger bond between you and your furry friend.
